Posted: 06 Jan 2020 03:58 AM PST A FRUSTRATED mum-of-two has proven with a single photo just how much the same jeans size can actually vary across the British high street. Nicole Burton, from Stafford, purchased skinnies in a UK size 12 from New Look, Pull & Bear and Topshop - and admitted she was "boggled" by how differently they fitted when she tried them on. Sharing a snap of the three denim options lying flat to Facebook group 'Mrs Gloss & The Goss', she showed just how their waistband measurements compared. Captioning the image, Nicole wrote: "These are all the same size!!! Boggles me." Speaking to Fabulous Digital about discrepancies in jeans sizing, she said: "It definitely makes it frustrating to shop. Size doesn't define you, but it 100 per cent affects you mentally. "You should be able to go and pick jeans you like in your size in any shop, and the style be the only factor affecting you decision, not the fact you're five different sizes on the same high street - and online shopping is a entire boggling universe in itself." Her post struck a chord with fellow social media users, and it quickly received more than 1,000 'likes' and over two hundred comments. Agreeing with her, one person wrote: "I wear anything from a size 12-16 depending on shape and style. It's crazy." Another commented: "Sizes are so messed up but this is also why so many people have body issues." A third shared: "I used to love clothes shopping and now I hate it."
And a fourth added: "This is why sizing should be standardised across the board." However, others urged group members not to pay attention to sizes, since it would only mess with your head. One person wrote: "Try them on, take what fits, cut the size label out, never need to think about the size again." Another commented: "This is why people should not get upset when out shopping and your size fluctuates in different shops or even in the same shop. "I work at Primark and the number of women/girls that I see upset or questioning their size is ridiculous!" Nicole also made a video posted to YouTube where she tried on a selection of size 12 jeans which all fitted very differently. The mum told her 3,000 subscribers how she was trying to find a pair to fit her "chunky thighs, big bum and small waist with a c-section 'shelf'". In other fashion news, we told you how Primark's Stranger Things collection has finally landed in stores. We also revealed that the Queen once deliberately wore her hat backwards on a royal tour. And fashion label Dior has been mocked over a new ad featuring a Deidre Barlow lookalike. |
