Hey Beauties!
Glitter lips became really popular when Pat McGrath came out with her Lust Lipstick Kits. I've recently been seeing a lot of recreations and I wanted to try it for myself. This really looks super pretty. Don't know how wearable it is, but it's a definite show stopper for special occasion and it can still look really elegant and classy.
Because I decided to do red lips and because eye makeup is really simple, I wanted just a bit of pop on the eye. That is why I used moss green eyeliner and winged it out. I went over it with shimmery forest green shade. This will act as a contrast to the red lips, but it's till very subtle and doesn't take away from the lips. I also deepened my lower lash line with the same matte brown shade.
I finished my eye makeup with a bit of defining mascara.
Lips are the main focus of this look. I started by using matte deep red lipstick shade all over the lips. Then I used makeup lock and seal liquid that basically seals in makeup. I used it as a base over the lipstick. Over it I applied regular craft red glitter. I applied it with a brush to get as even application as possible. You want glitter to be on the smaller size, but not too small, because you'll loose that chunkiness and reflection of it.
It actually sealed it on really well. I didn't have any fallout, but I still wouldn't recommend you to go kissing someone. This looked super pretty to me and I didn't wanted to take it off. It looks really pretty in low light situations (like evening events) and the glitter makes your eyes look fuller and luxurious. It doesn't look as pretty in direct sunlight though. In real life it looks way better than what my camera is picking up.
On the rest of my face I used foundation mixed with golden shimmer. I also concealed and powdered. I used bronzer to make my face look a bit warmer and sun kissed. For highlight I used golden shade and I didn't use any blush, because I just wanted my skin to look glowy and tanned.
It actually reminds me a bit of popular metallic liquid lipsticks. But this looks a bit more rough around the edges and almost a bit more editorial. I hope some other brands get on this trend and make some more affordable similar products. I never thought I would like glitter on the lips, but it can look so darn sexy. Would you wear glitter lips or is it too much for you?
