Enter the new Urban Decay Naked Reloaded palette! When this was sneak-peeked and released, I wasn't actually convinced that I needed this palette! It looked nice; but, didn't scream "buy me" right away! Then, I saw a few posts and videos from bloggers that I trust and the swatches and looks made me really feel that this would be a fabulous neutral palette in my collection!
I actually saved up my PC Optimum points and purchased the palette with my points, so that I could be a little more thoughtful about this instead of just running out right away and getting it!
Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Palette ~ $58.00 CAN. An essential Naked palette, featuring 12 all-new eyeshadow shades that redefine neutral with Urban Decay’s signature formula.
These shadows are supposed to be universally flattering shades for any age, gender, and skin tone. And they've added a brighter peach shade to compliment the warm and cool neutrals. This palette comes with a mix of mattes, metallics and iridescent micro-shimmers!
What I really like is the price reduction! All the other Naked palettes as of late have been $66.00 CAN. Also, they've gotten rid of the brush, which I'm okay with - I prefer my palettes to be a little more streamline and don't really need a brush in my palettes! They've also done things a little different with the 4 outer pans being a little larger - for me, I quite like this because those 4 shadows will be used up much quicker by me. I'm not sure if everyone else feels that way - but I do like this!
The only change they did that I'm not the biggest fan of is the packaging. I do like the picture of the Irises, they are pretty; but, the packaging itself is a fabric that's a little cushiony feeling! It's a little strange for me!
What did really help me finally decide to buy this palette was really checking out the shadows close up! I like the mix of cool and warm neutrals with the pop of peach. I think this offers a little more mattes than some of the past Naked palettes (I'm especially thinking of Naked 3 here). So, I really like the mix of the shadows.
Bribe ~ warm ivory matte
Barely Baked ~ soft gold metallic
Angel Fire ~ pale rose-gold with iridescent micro-shimmer
Retro ~ bright peach matte
Reputation ~ deep rose-gold with iridescent micro-shimmer
Burn ~ copper-burgundy metallic
End Game ~ chocolate brown matte
Dreamweaver ~ cool brown with iridescent 3D sparkle
Distilled ~ bronze metallic
Bucked ~ warm brown matte
Boundaries ~ warm terracotta matte
Blur ~ light nude matte
Overall, I thought the shadows were really good quality. I loved the mattes - I found them very blendable and easy to work with and build! The metallics were very soft and applied nicely with a finger or wet brush. I also enjoyed the iridescent micro-shimmers; I thought Angel Fired and Reputation were stunning - again a wet brush is best to help get the full impact of these shadows. The only shadow that was a bit of a miss for me is Dreamweaver that is described as a 3D sparkle. I thought it was crumbly and too chunky for a palette - it is probably best applied with a glitter primer underneath to help it adhere to the lid, otherwise it will just fall off the lid and leave no sparkle look.
Here is a look that I created with the palette! I used Bribe as the base shadow, Bucked and Boundaries in the crease, then Retro higher up in the crease very lightly. I applied Burn in the outer corner of the lid, Reputation in the middle of the lid, Barely Baked on the inner lid and Angel Fire in the inner corner. The lower lash line has Boundaries.
Here is a full look with the Urban Decay Naked Reloaded eye look - I'm loving the way these shadows look! Yes, it's neutral; but, after decluttering some older palettes, this actually filled a void in my collection. I like that is can be warm or cool and all the shades look really great together!
After using this product for a palette of the week - I was happy with all the looks I came up with for the whole week. I've also been using this in the crease a lot or to compliment other palettes.
This earned a well deserved spot in my March Favorites of this year! It's safe to say that I really love this palette and I'm super happy I did not pass over this!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this palette - have you already picked it up or are you planning on it?
