For all the beautiful people at the unlikely intersection of Justin Bieber and Marilyn Manson fandom, have we got the $250 (Cdn.) T-shirt for you.
Barneys New York has started accepting preorders for the sleeveless '90s Manson shirt Bieber has sported onstage.
The front displays the shock-rocker's name and smooth visage. On the back, "Bigger than Satan" is spelled out in crimson. Below that, in stylized gothic metal font that would do Spinal Tap proud, it reads: BIEBER.
The Stratford pop star, 22, has a surprisingly long history with Manson.
Last year, Manson randomly posted a sketch placing Bieber's face on his androgynous image from the Mechanical Animals cover, swapping the text for "Justin B1eber: The Douche Show."
Manson later posted a picture of Bieber clad in one of his other shirts, and once Bieber began trotting about onstage in a different Manson shirt during his Purpose tour, Manson was flattered enough to don some Bieber merch. Eventually, the odd couple even gathered for some wholesome post-show bonding.
"Night out in (L.A.) with the boys," captioned Bieber, whose penchant for grunge paraphernalia has extended to Nirvana and Pearl Jam.
The shirt is part of a line of obliquely branded boutique Bieber gear being hawked by the upscale U.S. retailer. In some cases, the only clue of a Bieber association is a "Purpose Tour" logo emblazoned on the back.
Other offerings include a fleece hoodie reading "No Photos" ($423 Cdn.), a polyester "Purpose Tour" mesh baseball jersey ($254), and a yellow cotton tee with "Security" cheekily printed across the chest ($125, though confusing your local arena patrol is surely priceless).
For the high-rolling Beliebers, check out the MA-1 Portrait Bomber Jacket, a $775 nylon number with Bieber's yearning monochrome mug shot on the back. A silk-lined, Italian-made spin on the jacket swaps Bieber's face for "Purpose Tour" on the back and runs $2,180, the same price as a black-leather motorcycle jacket version.
If the prices seem a little steep, consider that many earlier items in the line — including a $1,629 denim trucker jacket — have sold out.
Bieber's fans must truly love themselves.
